Albert Poole died from wounds on 17th October, 1914, after having been sent back to a base hospital near Rouen but as yet there is no information as to when and where he was wounded or captured. The 1st Royal Scots Fusiliers battalion was part of 9 Brigade3rd Division that had landed in France in August 1914, at the beginning of the war and had been involved in all of the early battles, including Mons, Le Cateau and the Aisne.
